Veterans ID Program To Be Held In Portville

LITTLE VALLEY – The Joint Veterans Council of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties will hold a VIP – Veterans I.D. Program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11, in the Portville American Legion Post 814, South Main St., Portville.

The program produces picture identification cards for veterans. Any honorably discharged veteran from Cattaraugus or Allegany counties can bring their DD-214 discharge to the campus that day to be recorded with the county clerk, if not already recorded. The veteran will be able to walk away with their picture identification card. No card will be issued without a copy of a DD-214 (World War II veterans – WD AGO form 53-55).

The program also includes discounts for veterans. The council has informational packets for area businesses that the council hopes will offer incentives for veterans to patronize their businesses. The veteran will benefit from the discounts, and the business will benefit from added patronage as well as inclusion in a published listing of ”veteran-friendly businesses.”

Business packets are available by contacting Judy Zayac at the Cattaraugus County Veterans Service Agency, 701-3298; Jane Meissner at 669-2466; or Terry Stone at 945-4486.
