Church Readies For Holy Week

The Rev. Father Mark Duko, St. George Cathedral associate pastor, Boston, will be serving St. Elia Eastern Orthodox Church, 103 Palmer St., Jamestown, during Pascha (Easter) Holy Week, Wednesday through Saturday. Father Duko earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Worcester State University and his Master of Divinity degree from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary, Crestwood. He has served as the Albanian Orthodox Archdiocese in America general secretary and is an officer of the Diocesan Theological Student Fund. He is also a property manager for the Illyrian Garden Apartments, Worcester, Mass. He and his wife, Coleen, live in Leicester, Mass., and have two daughters. Saint Elia Eastern Orthodox Church is under the jurisdiction of His Eminence, Archbishop Nikon, Bishop of Boston, New England and the Albanian Archdiocese of the Orthodox Church in America.

Blood Drive Set For Wednesday

CASSADAGA – A Community Blood Drive will be held at the Cassadaga Community Building (fire hall) on Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. The Cassadaga Fire Department Auxiliary will be giving one donor a $25 gas card.

Rummage Sale Begins Thursday

Christ First United Methodist Church, 663 Lakeview Ave., will hold a spring rummage sale from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday; and a $1 bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Thrift Shop Has Many Items

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., Jamestown, is featuring ladies high-end clothing and shoes as newly received items are added to the merchandise. The shop is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Donated items are received on those days as well as 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays. Proceeds from the shop, which is run by volunteers from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, RSVP and the community, are donated to local outreach programs.

Library To Have Toddler Time

The Clymer-French Creek Free Library will be having Toddler Time for 18 months to 3 year olds, every Saturday in May, at 11-11:45 a.m.. For more information, contact the Library at 355-8823

VA Talk Set

For Thursday

Steve E. McCord, Cattaraugus County Veterans Services, or Kevin P. Haynes, service officer, will be available to discuss Veterans Administration benefit laws, the Veterans Administration Healthcare system or other questions from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Gowanda American Legion Post and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 8, in the Randolph American Legion. McCord is also available in the Little Valley County Office Building from 1 to 3:30 p.m. each Thursday.
