Mayville Seniors Hold Lunch; Will Meet Thursday
MAYVILLE – Forty-five members of the Mayville Senior Citizens Club met recently in the Mayville VFW clubrooms for lunch and fellowship.
President Joyce Ayers greeted the group, while Louise Richer, Dolly Gilbert and Bonnie Johnson set the tables and made the coffee.
Chaplain Dianne Goodrich asked a blessing for the food and the group. Mary Carlson called the table numbers .
After the meal, Undersheriff Charles Holder spoke about the gun laws. Holder has done much research on this subject and explained in detail the pros and cons of this subject. The group had many questions for the speaker.
Chaplain Dianne Goodrich read “Stevens 320,” Old Gent and the Tomatoes” and “Humility” and led the group in the Lord’s Prayer.
After the flag salute, Izetta Ayling read the minutes, and Treasurer Edna Brown gave her report.
Wanda Gustafson reminded the group that they must make reservations if they want to take the safe driving course on May 7-8.
Goodwill chair, Mary Carlson reported she had sent several sympathy and get well cards to members.
Sandy Anderson, trip co-chair stated there are only a few seats left for the Patsy Cline Show in May and that the trip to Mackinaw Island is filling up. Call 753-7814 or 753-2663 for more information.
New member Pat Judge was made welcome.
The person called for the lottery was not present, so it grows. Jack Abrams won the door prize.
The next meeting of the Mayville Senior Citizens will be on Thursday in the Mayville VFW at noon. The speaker will be Robert Strang, who will speak on living wills and long-term care. All area residents are welcome to attend. Attendees should bring a dish to pass and their own table service.
