Portland Event To Appear On TV

Portland town board members reenacted the first board meeting at a recent bicentennial dinner held in Brocton. Access Channel 5 will televise the event at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day with the final airing on May 3. Playing the role of supervisor Thomas Prendergast was the current supervisor Dan Schrantz. Other participants were clerk Roxanne Sobecki as Asa Hall with the remaining board portrayed as follows: Rick Manzella as James Montgomery, Jerry Boltz as John Brewer, Gary Miller as Oliver Stetson and Al Valentin as William Bell. Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Mayville, Chautauqua, North Harmony, Sherman, Westfield and Portland areas.

Driving Course To Be Held

FREWSBURG – A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School from 6-8:30 p.m. today and Tuesday. Register by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Historical Society To Meet In Busti

The Busti Historical Society will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Busti Museum on Mill Street. In addition to the business meeting there will be an illustrated talk by Donald Sandy about mills in Sweden. Topics for discussion will include participation in the Busti Memorial Day activities; the June 9 community dedication of the Mill, celebrating the conclusion of the 40-year Mill restoration project; the rescheduled June 29 Town Picnic with music by Old Dawg Bluegrass; and the Sept. 29 Apple Harvest Festival. The public is always welcome at Busti Historical Society meetings and work sessions.

Catt. Co. Health Board To Meet

The Cattaraugus County Board of Health will meet at noon on Wednesday in the St. Bonaventure Clubhouse Restaurant, Route 417, Allegany.

Celoron UMC To Hold Dinner, Sale

CELORON – The United Methodist Church of Celoron is holding a spaghetti and meatball dinner and sale Wednesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to benefit the church’s youth fund. The dinner features Kirby’s special homemade meatballs, spaghetti, roll, vegetable and beverage. A bake sale and second-hand goods sale will also be held. The church is located at 28 E. Livingston Ave., Celoron.

Auxiliary To Meet

Marco Polo auxiliary members will meet Wednesday. The meeting will be hosted by Norma Gagliano and Lois Butcher. Linda Casamento and Mary Rasitano, president, hosted a recent dinner meeting. Rasitano led in prayer and the flag salute and also thanked the committee for the refreshments they provided. Celebrating birthdays were Linda Conti and Denise Rutkowski. Mary Kay Moss presented a program and demonstration on exercises.

Cemetery To Hold Meeting

NIOBE – The Grant Cemetery annual meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Niobe Church. All lot owners are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Holly Jo Osborne at 782-2277.
