Lady Thunderbirds Win Behind Cummings’ Pitching

MAYVILLE -Lauren Cummings gave up just four hits in pitching Chautauqua Lake to an 11-4 win over host Westfield in Division 3 softball action.

Cummings struck out three while walking three and helped her own cause with three hits for the Lady Thunderbirds (1-2), who scored five runs on six hits and a sacrifice in the top of the first inning and added four more runs in the second.

Also for the winners, Emily Corwin produced two hits, Ashley Moulton drilled a single and a double and had two RBIs and Courtney Hewes tripled and drove in one run.

FRANKLINVILLE TOPS PV

SOUTH DAYTON – Linnea Pollock delivered the clutch hit for Franklinville (3-2) in Division 4 girls softball on Friday.

Pollock singled home the winning run in the seventh inning with two outs to give Franklinville a 5-4 decision over Pine Valley (3-2).

Ally Haskell threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks in outdueling Alex Bentham, who tossed a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Megan McCune had a two-run double and Ally Ciesla a two-run single for the winners.

Erin Waterman singled in the tying run for PV in the sixth inning.
