William L. “Bill” Wiltsie Jr.

RUSSELL, Pa. – Willi-am L. “Bill” Wiltsie Jr., 88, of Ludwick Road, died, Wednesday (April 24, 2013), at his home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Fentonville, the son of W. Luther and Selma Edquist Wiltsie.

He had attended Frewsburg High School.

Bill was a longtime dairy farmer. His dairy was recognized by the D.H.I.A. several years in succession.

He was a quiet man with a great smile and a love of the land. He loved farming, trees, and sunsets. His favorite thing to do was to walk in the woods and along the creek. Most importantly, Bill loved his family, friends, and his home.

In early years, he was master of the Lander grange and was president of the Hale Cemetery Association for 33 years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marvel Cheney Bemis Wiltsie, whom he married Feb. 14, 1981; two brothers: Ted and Ernest “Boone” (Bee) Wiltsie; two sisters: Helen (Kenneth) Park and Mary Himes; five children: Ann Lanzel, John (Phyllis) Wiltsie, Paul (Leah) Wiltsie, Dan (Maggie) Bemis and Darlene Pitchford; 12 grandchildren: Sarah Mead, Cindy (Jason) Irwin, Aaron Lanzel, Erick (Whitney) Wiltsie, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson, Jessica (Cory) Brownlee, Hyla Brinkley, Patrick Bemis, Danielle Bailey and Darren, Serina and Kassandra Pitchford; and eight great-grandchildren: Andrew Mead, Conner Irwin, Lydia and Abigail Brownlee, Annaliese and Emma Johnson, and Katie and Jack Brinkley.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, David Wiltsie.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. Walter Venman, pastor of the Clarks Corners Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery, Akeley, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
