Frewsburg Girls Win Slugfest Against Portville In Extra Innings
PORTVILLE – Winning pitcher Alanna Blanchard had a two-run single in the eighth inning to give Frewsburg (5-3, 3-0) an 11-8 lead en route to an 11-9 win over Portville in Division 2 softball on Monday.
McKenzie Cass led the Bears’ offense with a home run, triple, double, four RBIs and four runs scored. Annie Berg had three singles and two RBIs while Kaitlyn Blanchard had two singles and Shawna Raymond ripped a triple.
Darienne Slocum had three singles for Portville.
CLINGER GETS SHUTOUT
RANDOLPH – Behind the pitching of Hillary Clinger, Randolph (2-1) was able to post a shutout.
Clinger allowed just three hits while fanning four and walking three in the 3-0 win over Salamanca (0-3).
Randolph had only three hits off Chelsea Spure, who struck out 10 and walked three.
The Lady Cardinals scored runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings.
A passed ball accounted for a run in the second, a sacrifice fly by Brayley Rotunardt in the fifth and an error in the sixth took care of the scoring.
Sabrina Jackson scored two of the runs and singled as did Kaylee Luce and Mandy Fitch in the win.
LADY COUGARS ROLL
SINCLAIRVILLE – The Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars (2-0, 4-3) held a 14-0 lead after three innings and never looked back in a 22-3 victory over the Silver Creek Lady Black Knights (0-3).
Jessie Burch, Ashley Carroll and Kaitlin Johnson paced the Lady Cougars with three hits each. Burch had a double and a home run while Carroll and Johnson added a triple each.
Kristi Zink and Maya Sischo supported the Cassadaga Valley barrage with two hits each. One of Zink’s hits was a home run.
Alyssa Hahn earned the win on the mound for the Lady Cougars after she struck out five batters and walked two in four innings of work. Courtney Vahl finishedwith one strikeout, two hits and one earned run in two innings of work.
Mary Jo Pearl had a double and an RBI for Silver Creek.
