Boys & Girls Club Seeks Scholarship Applicants
The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown has announced two annual scholarships.
The Education Fund Scholarship was created by alumni members to provide financial assistance to youth members of the Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown who plan to attend an accredited college upon graduating from high school. While in college, the chosen recipients will receive a $250 annual award, renewable each of four years while in good academic standing.
The Tony LeVoie Educational Scholarship is a onetime award in the amount of $250 to a graduating high school senior planning to attend any institution of higher learning (two to four years).
Criteria for the award:
A current high school senior; preference may be given to an applicant who is, or has been, a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown.
A resident of southern Chautauqua County or any other area serviced by the Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown.
The award will be based on scholarship potential, financial need, Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown participation and other community activities.
Additionally, the Tony LeVoie Scholarship will be awarded to the person who best exemplifies many of the characteristics that typified the life of longtime swim instructor, Anthony LeVoie.
Characteristics inclusive of honesty, sportsmanship, dedication to excellence, and overall commitment to youth and youth services will be considered.
Applications may be downloaded at www.bgcjamestown.org and they should be returned with a transcript of your grades no later than 5 p.m. on May 1.
