JPS To Meet

Several Times

The Jamestown Board of Education will meet in executive session on Monday and Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 3 p.m. on matters leading to the appointment of the next superintendent of schools.

Zoning Board To Meet Monday

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Zoning Board of Appeals will meet in the Randolph Municipal building at 7 p.m. Monday to hear a request from Sandra Brace for an area variance for a garage and to hear a request from New Directions Youth and Family Services for a special use permit to construct a riding arena. The meeting is open to the public.

Panama Board To Talk Budget

PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will hold two special board meetings. The board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss the 2013-14 budget and then at 7 a.m. Tuesday to approve the BOCES administrative budget and election of a BOCES board member. Both meetings will be in the boardroom and open to the public.

Swim Program Accepting Kids

The Winfred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls of Jamestown is currently registering participants for infant-toddler swim classes. The next eight-week session begins on Monday and will run Mondays through June 17. For the Infant Toddler Swim class the cost is $25 for the first child and $20 for each additional child. The program is designed for children under 5 and they must have an adult swim with them. Sessions are 45 minutes long and there are three class times: 9 a.m., 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. For more information and to register, please call the Boys & Girls Club at 664-2902.

Rod And Gun

To Host Event

FALCONER – The Falconer Rod and Gun Club, off of Buffalo Street Extension, will host its annual spring turkey shoot and pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Sunday. A standing slug shoot will cost $3 and a standing lucky shoot will cost $3. There will also be several individual drawings. Ammunition will be furnished for birdshot and deer slugs only. The shoot will be held rain or shine and the public is welcome to attend.

Welcome Author

BUSTI – The Hazeltine Public Library will welcome local author and artist George Clever on Monday at 6:30 p.m. for a book signing and his presentation, “Top 10 Things You Should Know About Your Writing and Self-Publishing.” Clever is the author of the poetry collection “Dancing with Grandfather,” its structure informed by the tradition of the American Indian star quilt; as well as the forthcoming collection Bear Lake Monster and Other Clever Stories. Clever currently resides in Bear Lake, where he pursues his passion for writing American Indian art and activism. He is a member of the Sinclairville Library Write Circle of authors.
