City Man Faces Charges After Fleeing, Consuming Cocaine
A Jamestown man has been charged after fleeing police early Monday morning.
Police around 2:45 a.m. spotted Donathan L. Alston, 41, walking west on East Second Street. Officers attempted to stop Alston, who police said seemed suspicious.
According to a police report, Alston began to eat an unknown substance as they approached him. The Jamestown resident allegedly then fled on foot.
After a short pursuit, Alston was apprehended and was found to be in possession of crack cocaine. During their investigation, Alston gave officers a fake name.
Police learned Alston had outstanding warrants issued from the city of Jamestown.
Alston was taken into custody and charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence and second-degree criminal impersonation.
He was held pending arraignment.
