HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Kathleen A. Matteson, 69, of Willis Drive, Hartsville, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Saturday (April 13, 2013), in Carolina Pines Hospital.
She was married to Charles W. Matteson Sr. on Aug. 29, 1960. The two of them shared almost 53 years of marriage together.
She was born in England and came to the United States with her mother and father in 1946. She attend-ed school in Falconer, N.Y.
Kathleen made her life as a homemaker and dedicated her life to taking care of her family.
She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, reading, and baby-sitting her grandchildren.
Surviving her, besides her husband, are three sons: Charles W. (Tracy) Matteson, Jr. of Manheim, Pa., and Edward L. and David P. Matteson of Hartsville, S.C.; six daughters: Eliza-beth A. (Curt) Olson, Sherry A. (Todd) Prophetor and Roxanne M. Knappke all of Jamestown, Susan K. Matteson of Florida, Michelle L. (Liza) Matte-son of Hartsville, S.C., and Elaine Matteson of Kelsey-ville, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bernard L. (Barb) Dalrymple of Dewittville and John (Bonnie) Dalrymple of James-town, James E. Middleditch of Belvedere, England; special family friend, Jenelle Thorp; and her companion, Bella.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth A. Dalrymple, who died Oct. 9, 2012, and her father, Bernard Dalrymple, on Aug. 31, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Darlington Memory Gardens.
