Steger Stars On Mound For Ripley Girls
RIPLEY – Supported by the pitching of Emilee Steger, Ripley (2-0) opened Division 4 girls softball successfully Monday afternoon.
Steger tossed a six-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks while allowing two earned runs in the 7-3 win over Ellicottville (0-2).
On the other side of ledger, Courtney Scanlan gave up just four hits but was hurt by 10 walks and had four strikeouts.
Nobody had two hits for Ripley but Sam Treveline had an RBI double in the fourth inning.
Grace Hall and Morgan Zlockie delivered two hits in the loss.
Center fielder Liz Wendell made the defensive play of the game for Ellicottville by making a diving catch to prevent two more Ripley runs from scoring in the fourth.
