Bears Win Behind Mott’s Pitching, Potent Bats

SALAMANCA – Frewsburg’s Sam Mott tossed five strong innings and the Bears’ offense was at full throttle as they cruised to a 17-4 victory over Salamanca (0-1, 1-1) in Division 2 softball on Monday.

The Bears (0-1, 1-1) jumped out with four runs in the first, highlighted by Mott’s RBI triple and added four more in the second as Shawna Raymond connected for an RBI triple.

Mott racked up 11 strikeouts and gave up three walks and three hits. Alanna Blanchard finished the final two innings, picking up three strikeouts, with no hits or walks.

Offensively for Frewsburg, Annie Berg delivered four hits with a home run and four RBIs, Emily Hair had a double and a single and also had four RBIs, Ryanne Strong added two hits and scored five times, Karlee Foti had two hits and Bethany Steele also drove in a run with a hit.

For the Lady Warriors, Micky Tinnerman had double and a single and drove in two runs.


RANDOLPH – Portville (1-0, 1-0) rolled to an 11-2 win over Randolph (0-1, 0-1).

Portville was led by Albanie Stives and Cammie McCracken with a single and a double each, and Stephani Sosnowski had two singles.

For Randolph, Brayley Rodunardt had two singles while Mandy Finch and Keylee Luce had one each.

Losing pitcher Hilary Clinger allowed 10 hits and four walks and struck out five.


CATTARAUGUS – Winning pitcher Sara Crandall helped her own cause with a double and a single as Cattaraugus-Little Valley topped Silver Creek, 14-2.

Crandall gave up four hits and five walks and struck out 12.

Rischelle Musall two singles for the Lady Timberwolves and Kaylee Eaton had single and four RBIs.

Silver Creek’s Jenny Pearl had two singles and scored both runs.
