Three Lakewood Starz Shine At Western Pa. Championships

OIL CITY, Pa. – Three members of the Lakewood YMCA Starz gymnastics team attended the Western Pennsylvania League Championships and placed in the top seven for the all-around competition.

At Level 6, Mariette Williams was first in the all-around with a season-high 34.2. She also placed first on the uneven bars (8.7) and balance beam (9.1). She had a third in the floor exercise (8.1) and sixth on the vault (8.3) to round out her scores for the day.

Also competing at Level 6 was Mikayla Johnson, who finished the meet with a third place all-around with a 33.1. She was second in the floor exercise (8.2), fourth on the vault (8.75), fifth on the uneven bars (7.5) and seventh on the balance beam (8.65).

Competing in Level 8 was Morgan Johnson, who finished seventh for the all-around with a 33.4. She was second in floor exercise with a 9.1 and third on the uneven bars with an 8.3. She also placed fifth on vault (8.65), and ninth on balance beam (7.3).

This meet marked the last Pennsylvania meet for the team this season.

Williams and the Johnsons will be joined by seven of their teammates this weekend at Cortland at the New York YMCA Gymnastics State Competition.
