Through a major gift to the Jamestown Community College Foundation, John E. Anderson has established the John and Judy Anderson Unified Student Assistance Scholarship Endowment at JCC.

“The fund allows me to honor the memory of my late wife, Judy, in a way that will benefit deserving students at JCC for many years to come,” Anderson said.

Gregory T. DeCinque, JCC president, and Kevin Brombacher, JCC Foundation board president, thanked Anderson for his gift.

“John has been a friend of JCC and the entire community throughout his life,” Brombacher said. “His scholarship fund will help provide an affordable college education at JCC to eligible USA scholars from throughout the local area.”

The USA Scholarship program provides a tuition-free education to any full-time, first-time student at JCC who finishes in the top 20 percent of their class from a high school within JCC’s service area. USA scholarship recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA while at JCC. Since being established in 1979, the USA scholarship program has provided $6 million to more than 3,000 JCC students

Anderson, president of Bodell Overcash Anderson and Co., Inc, a financial services firm in Jamestown, is a long-time volunteer with many area nonprofit organizations. He has held positions on several boards of directors, participated in many fundraising campaigns, and has been recognized for his philanthropic support of local community organizations. He also established the Judith J. Anderson Family Foundation in memory of his late wife.
