To Meet Today
ELLINGTON – The Ellington Town Picnic Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the Farman Free Library. Plans for the breakfast to be held Sunday at the Ellington Fire Hall will be discussed. Anyone interested in helping with the 101st Town Picnic is invited to attend today’s meeting as well.
Reservations Due Friday
Reservations for the YWCA Jamestown’s Spring Into Summer Pinterest are due Friday. The event, to be held Thursday, April 18, will be held at 6 p.m. in the YWCA Jamestown auditorium, located on the corner of Fourth and Main streets, Jamestown. Waterline Work Today In City
Jamestown Board of Public Utilities’ water employees will replace water mains on Lakeview Avenue today from 535 Lakeview Ave. to Van Buren Street. Water will be turned off to customers in that area from 8:30 a.m. until around noon. When water is restored, the water will be discolored on Jamestown’s north side for 12-18 hours. Today’s work by the BPU is part of the overall rebuilding of the Lakeview Avenue project. The BPU this year will replace water mains from Price to Falconer streets on Lakeview Avenue as well.
Anniversary Mass Is Sunday
FALCONER – Our Lady of Loreto Roman Catholic Church in Falconer will culminate the nearly yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary with a mass at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Most Reverend Richard J. Malone, Bishop of the Buffalo Diocese, will be the celebrant. The Pastor of Our Lady of Loreto, the Rev. Joseph Janaczek, several local parish priests and previous pastors of OLL, will be concelebrants with Bishop Malone. Parishioners of OLL, including the various members of ministries of the local church: the Parish Choir and Music Ministry, Faith Formation students, OLL Youth Group, CREW young families group, Altar & Rosary Society, Holy Name Society and St. Vincent DePaul Society, will join in the liturgical celebration. Father Janaczek and the parishioners of Our Lady of Loreto extend a welcome to their brothers and sisters to participate with them in worship and celebration on Sunday.
JHS Winter Guard Wins Again
The Jamestown High School Express Winter Guard program took to the floor in competition against seven other guard groups this weekend in Rochester, and left the audience in awe as they performed their rendition of “Bound to You,” winning their eighth straight first place trophy this year with a final score of 93.840. They continue to hold on to the No. 1 position in the nation in their class. The final chapter of their run this year is to prepare and leave Wednesday for competition in Dayton, Ohio.
Library Board To Meet Wednesday
BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Library board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the library. The public is welcome to attend.
