Society Of Artists To Meet Tuesday
The Chautauqua County Society of Artists will be meeting on Tuesday at the home of Suzette Paduano, 568 Hoag Road, Ashville. Paduano is a well-known area photographer and a long-time member of the society. She will be giving a presentation on how to photograph artwork for prints and digitalizing. Each member is requested to bring along their own camera and one piece of artwork as Paduano will be individually instructing how to get the best results from your camera. Also on the agenda for the April meeting will be planning for the July “Art in the Park” and the schedule for displaying art for the coming year. New members are always welcome to join the society and participate in the monthly meetings. A different tutorial, lesson or lecture will be included with each meeting. AARP To Tour Train Station
Jamestown AARP invites the community to meet with them at the Jamestown train depot on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. for a free tour conducted by Lee Harkness, manager.

Series To Begin Thursday At JCC
Starting Your Online Business, a series for individuals interested in creating and managing an online enterprise, begins Thursday at Jamestown Community College. The program is sponsored by JCC’s Center for Continuing Education, the Small Business Development Center and the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce. Classes meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays through May 30. Tuition is $117. To register, call JCC at 338-1005. Heather Carlson Chopra, who will conduct the series, created an online business, Laken & Lila, in 2008. Product development, branding, potential audience, tracking success, website development and marketing techniques are among the topics she will present.
BROCTON – The boards of education of Brocton Central School and Westfield Academy and Central School will hold a special joint meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Brocton Central School auditorium. The boards will discuss a proposed merger between the districts. The public is welcome to attend.
Grand Opening To Be Held
A grand opening celebration will be happening from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Chautauqua Pools & Spas. Kim Blanchard and LeighAnn Eklund, Chautauqua Pools & Spas managers, will be hosting the grand opening to welcome people to the business’ new location, 1739 Foote Ave., Ext. There will be specials on store items such as chemicals, toys, accessories and hot tubs. There will also be special discounts on above-ground pools. There will be free hamburgers and hot dogs. There will be a drawing for a $100 store gift certificate.
