CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

CHARLOTTE – James G. Hall, 33, of Edson Road, Sinclairville, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and criminal mischief. Deputies on April 3 around 6 p.m. responded to a complaint that Hall drove a vehicle with two children into a ditch. Police said Hall also slapped a victim in the face and destroyed household property. He was arraigned and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail.

POMFRET – Cortney L. Tomsick, 23, of Gardner Street, Fredonia, was charged with moving from lane unsafely, failure to keep right, aggravated driving while intoxicated and blood alcohol content of .18 percent or greater. Deputies on Sunday stopped Tomsick on West Main Road for moving from a lane unsafely. Tomsick was found to be intoxicated and was released with appearance tickets to be in court a later date.

POLAND – Michael C. Schimek, 25, of Cherry Creek, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possessing a controlled substance outside original container. Deputies on Sunday at 2:40 a.m. stopped a vehicle on Route 394 for not having a front license plate. Schimek, a passenger, was found with a baggie of pills, but could not identify what the pills were. Deputies learned two of the pills were a controlled substance for which Schimek did not have a prescription. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

HARMONY – Tyler J. Johnson, 20, was charged with failure to reduce speed for a curve and failure to keep right. Deputies on Saturday at 12:24 a.m. responded to an accident in which they said Johnson failed to reduce speed for a curve when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a ditch. Johnson was transported to WCA Hospital for minor injuries.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE

Allen M. Briggs, 21, of Sherman, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and speeding. Briggs on April 4 at 11 p.m. was stopped for speeding and was later found to be intoxicated. He was released to a third party after being issued appearance tickets. Johnson will be in Busti Court at a later date.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

NORTH HARMONY – Brandon Chase, 20, of West Smith Street, Corry, Pa., was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Chase was stopped for a traffic violation, and troopers could smell marijuana odor from the vehicle. A baggie with less than 25 grams of marijuana was found. Chase was released on an appearance ticket.

FALCONER – Bridget G. Putman, 21, was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely and unlicensed operation. Troopers on Saturday observed a vehicle swerve into a curb on Homestead Street. It was learned Putman only had a learner’s permit and was intoxicated. Police said she provided a blood alcohol content of .13 percent and will be in Ellicott Court at a later date.
