Ellington Library Marks Birthday Of Dr. Seuss

ELLINGTON – The birthday of Dr. Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, was celebrated in grand style recently at the Farman Memorial Library in Ellington.

Nine area children gathered at the feet of Lynn Grundstrom, library director, as she read Seuss’ “The Cat In The Hat.” The children were Morgan Pickup, Chad Eicheldinger, Ashley Eicheldinger, Joselyn Speas, Myles Pickup, Aaron Steen, Becca Meyer, Christopher Elliott and Bradley Hitchcock.

Following the story, the children enjoyed plating some games of skill and memory, which all pertained to various Dr. Seuss books, Mrs. Grundstrom read “The Lorax” and the group planted a “truffula tree” to accompany the story.

The Falconer Rotary Club donated copies of various Dr. Seuss books for the children, which were presented by Lorri Hucklebery.

A large red and white striped cake in the shape of a hat was also served.
