Blood Drives Planned

The American Red Cross will host several blood drives this month. They are as follows: Friday at the Chautauqua Mall from 12:30-5:30 p.m.; April 15 at Blessed Mary Angela RC Church from noon to 6 p.m.; April 19 at Buster Brown Bean Co., Fredonia, from 1-6 p.m.; April 20 at Lakewood Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; April 24 at Stanley Hose Co., Sherman, from 2-8 p.m.; and April 26 at Buster Brown Bean Co., from 1-6 p.m.

Board Of Health To Meet Today

ALLEGANY – The next meeting of the Cattaraugus County Board of Health has been scheduled for today at noon. The meeting will be held at the St. Bonaventure Clubhouse Restaurant, Route 417, Allegany. For more information, call 701-3398 or email kamanners@cattco.org.

Training Sessions Begin Monday

The St. Susan Center will provide training sessions for volunteers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tours will also be available. If interested, visit the center at 31 Water St., Jamestown, or call 664-2253, ext. 4. Volunteers served 98,094 meals in 2012.

Benefit Planned For Sunday

A benefit for Joey Weise of Jamestown will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at The Q, 104 W. Second St., Jamestown. Friends are raising money to help Weise pay bills after complications from a sinus surgery in February. A main artery in his sinus area ruptured, making risky surgery necessary. Admission for the adults-only event is $8 and includes a pasta dinner, Chinese auction and bake sale. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Felony. Senior Report To Host Spanos

“Senior Report with Reed Powers” will have MaryAnn Spanos as the guest Saturday. Spanos is director of the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging. The live, call-in program airs from 9-10 a.m. Saturday. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities. Powers has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change. Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
