Bemus Man Charged After Fleeing Scene Of Accident

RIPLEY -A Bemus Point man was taken into custody after allegedly fleeing the scene of an automobile accident Friday night.

At 10:58 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s patrol located a vehicle crashed at the intersection of Route 76 and County Route 6 in the town of Ripley. The driver had fled the scene on foot. Deputies searched the area and spoke to neighbors to develop information on the operator’s description.

Kamal K. Korkonda, 29, was determined to be the owner and operator of the vehicle, and was located not far from the accident scene at around 12:10 a.m.

Following the investigation, Korkonda was charged for driving while intoxicated, at unreasonable and imprudent speeds, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

After processing, Korkonda was later released. He is scheduled to appear in Ripley Court.
