City Man Charged After Morning Drug Raid
A Jamestown man was awaiting arraignment after being charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Police charged Tyrone M. Smith, 28, after executing a search warrant on his residence, 10 W. Sixth St., Thursday at 9 a.m. City police were assisted by the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Police were investigating alleged sales and possession of narcotics inside the residence. Once the warrant was executed, police found cash and several flat-screen televisions that had been reported stolen.
Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said marijuana also was found during the search. It is alleged that cocaine had been sold out of the residence, but none was found Thursday, Samuelson said.
“We were acting on numerous tips and overlapping investigations,” he said of the raid.
Smith was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, first-degree felony criminal nuisance and criminal possession of stolen property.
The Jamestown resident was transported to Jamestown City Jail.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on illegal sales of narcotics to contact the department’s anonymous Tip Line at 483-8477.
