Three Charged By City Police

Three men were committed to Chautauqua County Jail following an incident with police last week.

Officers on Friday around 2:30 p.m. were notified of a male who had threatened someone with a handgun in the 200 block of Newland Avenue. The suspect left in a silver vehicle before police arrived.

Officers found the vehicle on Harrison Street in the city, and attempted to pull the driver over. The driver then drove behind Big Lots, allegedly to avoid being detected, a police report said.

Once located, an occupant fled the vehicle, but was taken into custody after a brief pursuit near Arterial and South Main streets. The suspect identified as Bruce J. Miles, 24, of Rochester, was charged with obstructing governmental administration.

The driver, Shamelle D. Warren, 21, of Rochester, was charged with obstructing governmental administration and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Demarco Lathan, 24, of Jamestown, was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police said Lathan attempted to hide the loaded gun as officers tried to stop the vehicle.

All three men were arraigned and committed to County Jail.
