Ham Radio To Host Training
The local Ham Radio club, CCAFMA will play host to National Weather Service “Sky Warn” training at its Monday meeting in the auditorium at WCA Hospital. The training will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be presented by meteorologist Judy Levan of the Buffalo office of the National Weather Service. Sky Warn is a system of trained, volunteer weather observers who observe and report potentially hazardous weather conditions directly to the NWS via telephone or by Amateur Radio. The training is free of charge, takes about two hours, and is available to any one with an interest in weather and/or public service. An Amateur radio license is not required. Participants will be certified as Sky Warn spotters.
Grange To Hold Afghans Event
FALCONER – Ross Grange members will hold a work meeting for “Warm Up America” afghans at 11 a.m. Monday. The regular meeting will include fellowship at 2:30 p.m. with the business meeting at 3. The Family Activities Committee will present the program. Included will be information on Ross Grange activities during World War II. This is a National Grange project. Plans for the annual awards night will be confirmed at this time. Community members as well as Grangers are welcome to attend meetings at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall, 2001 E. Main St., Falconer.
Lakewood Board To Meet Monday
LAKEWOOD – The Village of Lakewood board of trustees will hold their regular meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Board room. The public is invited to attend. A work session will precede the meeting at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 9, the Chautauqua County Pomona Grange Banquet will be held at the Pine Valley VFW 2522, 7119 N. Main, Route 83, Cherry Creek. The cost is $15. Falconer To Host Farmers Market
FALCONER – The village of Falconer will be hosting a farmers’ market this year on Saturdays beginning June 1 and running through Oct. 25. The market will be located in Davis Park, West Main Street at Homestead Street. Spaces are available at no charge but reservations are required. Driving Course Begins Monday
FREWSBURG – A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday and Tuesday, from 6-8:30 p.m. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Farmland Board To Meet Tuesday
LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Large Committee Room, third floor, Cattaraugus County Center, Little Valley. The public is welcome to attend.
