Mayville Seniors Meet At VFW; To Be Surprised By Mystery Guest

MAYVILLE – Fifty-two members of the Mayville Senior Citizens met at the Mayville VFW recently.

Louise Richir, Dolly Gilbert and Bonnie Johnson set the tables and made the coffee before Chaplain Dianne Goodrich asked a blessing for the food and the group. Mary Carlson called the table numbers as the seniors filled their plates with the food provided.

After the meal, President Joyce Ayers opened the short business meeting. Goodrich read several short humorous items, ‘ View of a Thunderstorm,” “No ties,” Simple Blessings” and “In His Footsteps.” She also asked for a moment of silence for departed member, Neal Johnson.

After the flag salute, Secretary Izetta Ayling read the minutes and correspondences, and Treasurer Edna Brown gave her report.

Goodwill chair Mary Carlson noted she had sent several sympathy cards. She also listed the March birthday celebrants as: Donna Cummings, Rozella Stansbury, Charles Tanner, Pat Smith, Charles Krause, Judy Smith, Marsha Limberg, Bill Fahey, Bill Tornstrom, Barbara Thompson, Juanita Holthouse, Arleen Kurtz and Gladys Fredell.

Sandy Anderson and Jean Kelsey reported the trip to Seneca Casino was ready to go. They stated that all trips must be paid for one month ahead of the scheduled date, so not to tary in making the decision to go. There also is trip insurance available.

New member Darlene Barney was made welcome.

The person drawn for the lottery was not present, so it grows.

Program chair Bill Tornstrom introduced Doc and Bill, who provided Irish music. They sang many favorite tunes that had the group clapping and singing along.

The next meeting of the Mayville Seniors will be on Thursday in the Mayville VFW at noon.

Attendees should bring a dish to pass and their own table service and be prepared for a surprise. Program Chair Tornstrom advised there will be a mystery guest.
