Salvatore Picardo, 79, of 317 East Virginia Blvd., died at 2:55 p.m. Sunday (March 17, 2013) in the Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born in Marionopoli, Sicily, on Aug. 4, 1933, the son of Rosario and Emanuela Sardo Picardo.
Salvatore was employed in the maintenance department of Chautauqua Hardware for more than 15 years, retiring in 1998. He was previously employed at Maddox Table Company for several years. He was a former parishioner of St. James Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Infantiono Picardo, whom he married on Dec. 5, 1965, in Marionopoli, Sicily; two daughters: Emanuela “Lina” Thompson, JoAnne (Junior) Surrena, Jamestown; a son, the Rev. Rosario (Callie) Picardo, Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren: Ashley, Amanda and Andrew Thompson, and Zack and Junior Surrena, all of Jamestown; two sisters: Giovanna “JoAnn” Colletti, Jamestown, and Calogera Picardo, Sicily.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Calogero Picardo, and by four sisters: Maria, Rosa, Damiana and Salvatrice Picardo.
A private family funeral service will be held at the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. The Rev. Rosario Picardo, his son, will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
