Seniors To Meet For Dinner

The Falconer Seniors will meet for a St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage dinner, catered by Mariner’s Pier Express, at noon on Monday, March 25. All are invited to attend. The cost is $7 for members; $12 for non-members. Reservations are required. Contact Marie Peters at 661-3861 or Carol Swain, 386-7289, by Monday. Deacon Michael Lennon and the Rev. Darrell Duffy of St. James Parish will provide entertainment.

Winter Book Sale Starts Today

The Fluvanna Free Library will hold its winter book sale today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Items include hardcover and paperback books for both adults and children. Fiction and nonfiction are available. Many videos are priced at 25 cents. DVDs, CDs, magazines and puzzles are for purchase also. The library received another new queen-size quilt donated by the West Oak Hill Quilters for a fundraiser this year. The tickets are $1 for one and $5 for six. One can purchase a ticket from a West Oak Hill Quilter or at the library and will be available now until the lucky number is drawn at the November bazaar.

American Legion Party Is Friday

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood American Legion birthday party will be held Friday from 7-10 p.m. The dinner special will be corned beef and cabbage.

Railroaders Show Set For Friday

The Independent Railroaders annual show and tell will be held on Friday in the First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St., Jamestown. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m. Members attending should bring models they have worked on, including rolling stock, structures, engines, model or prototype pictures. NARFE Employees To Meet Friday

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 267 will hold its regular meeting on Friday. The meeting is at Friendly’s Restaurant in Jamestown’s Brooklyn Square, and will begin at 11:15 a.m. NARFE held its Legislation Education Conference in Washington this past weekend, so discussion will focus on the legislation, introduced or expected, that is of interest to federal retirees and active employees. The role of NARFE-PAC will be discussed. All active postal and civilian employees and all postal and federal retirees are invited to Friendly’s for education, for lunch, for dessert and for meeting with former co-workers. Members are urged to attend and bring a friend.

Indoor Yard Sale Begins Saturday

Chautauqua Suites will host an indoor yard sale Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $1 fee at the door enters attendees into a 50/50 drawing. Half the funds go to the winner and half to a charity of the winner’s choice.

Library Board To Meet Tuesday

FREWSBURG – The Myers Memorial Library trustees board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the library community room. This meeting is open to the public.
