Sherman boys fall in Class C Far West Regional, 71-55.

ROCHESTER – The Sherman Wildcats got off to blazing start in Saturday afternoon’s Class D Far West Regional at the Blue Cross Arena, but Section 5’s University Prep pulled away in the second half to post a 71-55 victory.

Jordan Marshall led four Griffins in double figures with 20 points as the Section 5 champions overcame a 12-1 deficit to start the game and held a 32-28 advantage at the break. The Wildcats (16-6) stayed close for most of the third quarter – they trailed 42-40 with under three minutes remaining – but University Prep (19-3) went on an 11-2 run to end the period. The Wildcats got no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Andrew Graham led Sherman with 17 points, Nathan Ottaway added 10 points and eight rebounds, and Jake Card chipped in eight points and 10 boards.

The Griffins advanced to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association final four in Glens Falls next weekend.
