Jayhawks One-Hit In Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Jose Hernandez got the only hit as Jamestown Community College’s baseball team lost for the fifth straight time at the expense of Macomb CC of Warren, Mich., 6-0, Friday night in the Ripken Experience.

Hernandez recorded a two-out single in the fifth inning to provide the Jayhawks with their hit, but for the third time in the early season they were shut out.

Tom Hearst got the start for JCC and went five innings in taking the loss. He allowed four runs and was hurt by eight walks while striking out four.

”The walks were the difference today,” said JCC coach Dick Adams, who three pitchers gave up just three hits.

Neklye Taylor worked the sixth inning and gave up two runs. Dylan Caldwell pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

”We are disappointed that we haven’t hit very much,” said Adams, whose Jayhawks have a twin bill today with County College of Morris from Randolph, N. J.

Getting the starting nod in the first game is Lyle Howard and in the nightcap it will be Jake Harford.
