Clint Black To Perform At Seneca Allegany Casino Saturday

The musician who brought the world hits such as “A Better Man,” “Killin’ Time” and “When I Said I Do,” is coming to Salamanca.

Clint Black will appear at the Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel on Saturday at 7 p.m. The show will be Black’s first time performing at the Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel, but he has been to Chautauqua Institution before.

“We played the Chautauqua Institution Amphitheater in 2011, and loved it,” said Black. “I didn’t get to see a lot in the area, but we enjoyed the crowd and the venue was magical.”

According to Black, he has a little bit of everything planned as far as tunes go for Seneca Allegany Casino show. But, one thing is for sure, he’ll be playing everything acoustically.

“One of the things that’s great about this acoustic tour is it’s really easy to throw songs in and out of the set list, so depending on my mood we have over a hundred songs we could perform,” said Black. “You will definitely at least in part get a review of my life in music so far, a few covers from the club days and a new song or two as well. Guess you’ll just have to come find out for yourself.”

Although Black’s set list is still up in the air, he does have a couple favorite songs to perform, he said. One of those favorites is “Something That We Do” because he considers it to be very challenging and it seems to be an audience favorite. He has also adapted several of his favorites so that he could perform them acoustically.

“I’ve been enjoying all of them, as the show is fresh and new,” said Black. “‘State of Mind,’ ‘A Good Run of Bad Luck,’ ‘Killin Time,’ and ‘When My Ship Comes In’ have all been adapted for this show. While they still retain everything that made them the hits they are, they have a little something about them that is just different enough to make them feel very special in this kind of performance. But, the set list is full of my favorites.”

Coincidentally the instrument that brings Black the greatest amount of joy to play is guitar, which fits in perfectly with his acoustic tour.

“I’d have to say guitar is my favorite, (but) you’d think it would be the voice,” said Black. “I’ve been practicing on guitar so much in the last few years, it has become a more expressive instrument for me than I thought possible. I do still love to sing, though. It’s a very close second.”

Black hopes that fans will take away from his performance a renewed interest in his work as a musician, especially considering that he is completing a new album soon, he said.

“First and foremost, I want everyone to have as least half as much fun as I have been having at these shows because I’ve never had an acoustic tour like this – and I love it,” said Black. “Second, I hope after this show they will be looking out for my new album that I’ve been working on, hopefully out by the end of this year. It is the first in seven years, so needless to say I’ve been working hard on it and can’t wait to get these new songs out there for my fans.”
