Pleas & Sentences

A man accused of stealing items from two area churches in March 2012 was sentenced Tuesday in Chautauqua County Court to serve two to four years in prison.

John A. Bish, 47, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, one count of fourth-degree grand larceny and one count of petit larceny for his involvement in the burglaries at the Greek Orthodox Church on Francis Street and the Bethel Lutheran Church on West Third Street in Jamestown on March 4, 2012. He was convicted of two counts of third-degree burglary.

Bish entered the Bethel Lutheran Church during Sunday morning services and took a laptop computer and a digital camera. He was also believed to have taken a wallet from a parishioner’s purse at the Greek Orthodox Church later that day.
