Charles E. “Bud” Nieder

ELLINGTON – Charles E. “Bud” Nieder, 91, of El-ington, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at home.

He was born Oct. 3, 1921, in Dunkirk, and was a Chautauqua County resident all of his life, and son of the late Joseph and Anna Bates Nieder.

He was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Army.

Bud was employed as a bus driver for Greyhound and Blue Bird Bus Lines, retiring in 1985. He had also been employed by Marlin Rockwell, Hope Windows, Hildom Block, Cockaigne and Don Frame Trucking.

He was a life member of both the Randolph American Legion Post 181 and Ellington Rod and Gun Club.

Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and his dogs.

Husband of 64 years to the late Delores M. Erwin Nieder, whom he married April 24, 1948, and who died Dec. 15, 2012; father of Cathleen (late Paul) Swanson of Conewango Valley, Ronald (Deborah) Nieder of Gerry, and Debra (Ronald) Eddy of Ellington, with whom he made his home; grandfather of Charles (Jamie), Loren (Brandy) and Chad (Jamie) Swanson, Kimberly (Allen) Swanstrom, Angela Thomas, Charlene Nieder, Brandy and Jeremy (Jennifer Nelson) Eddy; great-grandfather of 12; brother of Ruth (Danny) O’Brien of Ashville, William (Donna) Nieder of Jamestown, Peter (Joanne) Yeager of Elmira and the late Marie Cross, Frances Marsh, Donald, Paul and Gordon Nieder. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Levant Wesleyan Church, 1670 Lindquist Drive, Falconer. No prior visitation. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate assistance with funeral expenses.
