St. Patrick’s Day Event Planned In Cherry Creek To Benefit Library
CHERRY CREEK – St. Patrick’s Day will arrive a bit early this year in Cherry Creek as the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. has organized a corned beef and cabbage dinner, complete with Irish music, a Chinese auction and cupcake sale to benefit the Cherry Creek Free Library.
The library is trying to raise money to move the library to the former Cherry Creek Hardware store on Main Street. The new building needs much renovation before the library can move in.
The event is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Trillium Lodge on Main Street in the village. The duo of Doc and Bill will provide Irish music for the afternoon, while the Chinese auction of at least 12 baskets is in progress.
The afternoon’s festivities will also include a cupcake sale, with each cupcake available for a $2 donation.
The highlight of the afternoon will be the corned beef and cabbage dinner, which will ongoing throughout the event.
“The Cherry Creek Free Library mission is to serve all residents of Cherry Creek, with a special focus on youth,” reads the library’s mission statement. “We will encourage literacy, offering a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction titles, clean and bright pleasure reading areas as well as community wide reading programs and special events. It is our responsibility to develop our unique strengths as we compliment, and support the library’s Board of Directors as they relocate the library to 6778 Main Street, former site of the Cherry Creek Hardware Store. There has been much renovation, and much more needs to be done.”
