City SWAT Used In Drug Bust

Two Jamestown residents were arrested Monday on drug possession charges following a lengthy investigation by several police agencies.

Police charged Luis A. DeJesus-Colon, 28, and Neftali Cintron, 49, with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were transported to Jamestown City Jail and were awaiting arraignment.

Members of the Jamestown Police Department, State Police and Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at 2:30 p.m. at 31 Barrett Ave. Investigators believed heroin was being sold out of the residence, Capt. Robert Samuelson said in a news release.

“Heroin use is huge everywhere, and it’s being sold all over. It’s in Jamestown, Buffalo and in Pennsylvania,” Samuelson said. “It’s in all the major cities.”

Entry was gained Monday afternoon by the Jamestown Police Department SWAT team.

“We really didn’t know much about the inside of the residence,” Samuelson said. “We used the SWAT team for the safety of our officers.”

Once inside the residence police located heroin and cash. Samuelson said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. The police captain would not speak specifically on the Barrett Avenue bust, but noted many raids are the result of the police department’s tip line.

“We do get a lot of our information from that line,” he said.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on the illegal sale of narcotics in the city of Jamestown to contact the department’s anonymous tip line at 483-8477.
