Work Session To Be Held Tuesday

The Southwestern Central School Board of Education will hold a work session meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Board of Education room. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct school business.

Kindergarten Roundup Set

All parents of children in the Southwestern Central School District who will be 5-years-old on or before Dec. 1, 2013, are urged to call Southwestern Elementary School as soon as possible at 664-1881 to register for Kindergarten Roundup, which is being held May 2-10. Also, Southwestern Central School District is now accepting applications for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. Admission is by lottery drawing, and the program is contingent upon New York state funding. Applications may be obtained by calling the elementary school at 664-1881.

Slush Rush Is Sunday

FREDONIA – The fourth “Slush Rush” 5K race/walk to benefit the Xylia Peterson Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held on Sunday at 9 a.m. at SUNY Fredonia. The event is open to students, faculty and staff, and community members. Pre-registration is available online by visiting fredonia.edu/internationaleducation where there is a link to the “Slush Rush.” SUNY Fredonia students may use their FredCards to register up until Friday, but must come to the International Education Office in LoGrasso Hall to do so. Race Day registration is from 7:30-8:45 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center. The race begins behind Steele Hall at 9 a.m. Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt, refreshments and raffle tickets. Club To Host Spaghetti Dinner

A spaghetti dinner will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Marco Polo Club, 1027 E. Second St., Jamestown. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Can Drive To Be Held Saturday

FREWSBURG – The Relief Zone, 5 Frew Run Road, Frewsburg, is planning a can drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Board members, employees, volunteers and youth will be going door to door asking for can donations while the group will also be accepting donations at TRZ, C&R Construction and at the Southside Redemption Center. Farmland Board To Meet March 4

MAYVILLE – The next meeting of the Chautauqua County Farmland Protection Board has been scheduled for Monday, March 4, at 4 p.m. at the Gerace Office Building, Room 331 in Mayville.
