Elderly Man Drives Car Into Hanover Restaurant

HANOVER – An elderly driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital for observation Tuesday after he accidentally drove his car into a Hanover restaurant.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to Tom’s Family Restaurant, located on Routes 5 and 20, for a report of a motor vehicle into a building.

An investigation found that the elderly driver, whose name was not released by police, of Perrysburg, allegedly lost control of his vehicle while entering the parking space. The vehicle entered the front of the restaurant, causing damage to the building and the vehicle.

No one inside the restaurant was injured, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver and his female passenger, of Versailles, were not injured, but were transported to Lakeshore Hospital in Irving for observation.

Firefighters from Silver Creek and Sunset Bay were dispatched for the accident. Town of Hanover code enforcement also was notified.

No further information was available from the Sheriff’s Office.
