Findley Lake Man Charged After Driving Vehicle Into Store
MINA – A Findley Lake man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police said he drove his car into a store Saturday in the town of Mina.
Gary Rafaloski, 58, of Gaswell Road, Findley Lake, was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI per se and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police were dispatched at 2:50 p.m. to the Findley Lake Market, 10375 Main Street, and found the vehicle lodged under the foundation of the store.
Sherri Schenk, owner of the convenience store since 2004 and currently in Florida, said the building received significant damage at the point of impact. Quick repairs were made to the store, which remains open at this time.
Schenk said she expects an estimate on the damage by early this week.
“Thankfully we had some family in town and were able to get some lumber and shore up the place,” she said. “Thankfully the car missed a bunch of other cars that were parked close by.”
No injuries were reported. Firefighters from Findley Lake responded to the accident.
Rafaloski was processed and later released to appear in Mina Court at a later date.
