Mid-Winter Classic At The Arena

Following are the results of the first-round games of the Mid-Winter Hockey Classic held Saturday at Jamestown Savings Bank Arena.

Another full day is scheduled for today with 14 games scheduled on Rink A and 14 more on Rink B.

The championships are set for Monday.


Cooper Spielman had collected three goals, but the Jamestown MOHL lost a 4-3 verdict to Niagara County Coyotes.

Spielman scored first from William Turner and Devin Wolfe, followed by an unassisted goal and capped off with an assist from Wolfe.

Niagara County was led by unassisted goals from Brandon Barone, Dylan Bush and Kyler Engel, and Ian Fanton tallied from Stephen Leone.

Turner converted a pass from Spielman to stop the shutout as Jamestown MOHL was topped by Strongville, 8-1.

Nick Reichelderfer scored three times, Bradley Wracher twice, and Dan Mutti and Aiden Hansen and Nathan Rajecki once for the winners.

Parker Kufel accounted for three assists, Michael Savol and Rajecki two and Andrew Gus one in the win.

Reichelderfer tallied from Wracher and David Wohlabaugh for the lone goal as Strongville edged Steel City, Pa.,1-0.

Steel City, behind two goals from Brody Simko and Anthony Lobb, took care of Niagara County, 7-1.

Dom Cerra, Ryan Riffner, Alejandro Pietz tallied the goals while assists went to Simko, Pietz, Cerra, Logan Scanlon (two each) and Luke Beran and Jacob Cochran each had one.

Dylan Bush had the goal for NC with assists to James Marotta and Alex Trimboli.


Ty Moran, Ben Marchese and Trevor Miller scored the goals when West Seneca downed the Jamestown -Brown, 3-1.

Owen Hughes and Matt Zelasko had the assists in the win.

Tristan Spillane had the Jamestown goal from Cooper Bergman and Zechariah Padd.

Jamestown-Brown lost a second game to Armstrong Miller, 5-2.

Ryan Schrecengost tallied from Jadon Baron, and Spillane accounted for another goal from Padd in defeat.

Bekk McClaine had the hat trick with two unassisted goals and another from Ethan Miller for the winners.

Ethan Spohn tallied from McClaine and Kelly and Ken Klasnick recorded a goal from Noah Bielski in the victory.

Dominic Ballas had an unassisted goal and an assist from Ellen Madison as Rocky River nipped West Seneca, 2-1.

Brian Gorman scored an unassisted goal for WS.

Armstrong blanked Rocky River, Ohio, 5-0, behind two goals from Lance Quinnel and one each from Bekk McClaine, Ethan Prugh and Maddik Rearic.

McClaine delivered two assists, and Rearic Prugh and Ethan Kelly one in the victory.


Charles Piggot scored twice from Nicholas Trapasso and from Matthew Riddle as NJPE defeated Silberman, 5-1.

Trapaasso scored unassisted, Justin Currie from Matthew Riddle and Ryan Pinzel from Justin Currie and Matthew Ornella had the other goals for NJPE.

Lucas Enos found the range from Colin Boyle for Silberton goal.

Hamburg Hawks took care of Armstrong, 5-0, with four different players tallying goals.

Eric Duma recorded a goal from Nicholas Torchia and Alexander Dzimian, Owen Gifford tallied from Nathan Kacmarski, Nicholas Torchia from Zachary Eisenmann and Tyler Witkowski and Dziminan from Torchia and Witkowski.

Bryce Sacre scored two goals as Butler Valley-Follmer tied with Winterhurst, 2-2.

William Holden from Isaac Young accounted for the Winterhurst goals.


The Jamestown-Taylor absorbed a 6-0 blanking at the hands of Butler Valley Staydunhar.

Justin Strobel, Clay Potochny, William Harker, Evan Koprivnik, Luke English and Luke Reiser scored the goals.

Matthew Commendatore, Samuel Staydunhar, Giovanni Sarachine, Hunter Riemer and Potochny contributed assists in the win.

Gerace scored the lone goal as Jamestown-Taylor was beaten by Steel City, 3-1.

Joshua Walsh and Cameron Taylor had the assists on Gerace’s goal.

Christian Fitch had two goals and Russell Erb one for the Steel City. Davis Cerra, Ryan Mickey and Dylan Valo contributed assists.

Connor McGowen scored from Frankie Lord and added a second goal from Davis Strick and Spencer Asmar as Rocky River beat Armstrong, 5-1.

Other goals for Rocky River were scored by Trevor Thompson from Strick, Luke Witzigreuter from Strick and Frankie Lord unassisted.


Jamestown MOHL were dealt an 11-2 setback by BV-Kline.

For Jamestown, Andrew Dix scored from Gerace and Jackson Knupp from Luke DePonceau.

Adam Silberman, Andrew Coholich and Jacob Venture scored twice, Luke Norkus, David Hanna, Kyle Errera, Jacob Golab and Ryan Norris once for BV-Kline.

Assists went to Mason Mosberger with three, Ryan Iversen and Golab with two and Ryan Norris and Adam Silberman with one.

Southstars prevailed over Jamestown MOHL, 5-1, with Matt Reinard scoring twice, and Brendan Eynon, Ben Ingalls and Ethan Briggs once.

D.J. Osinski had two assists, and Brendon Wenger, Adam Keller and Reinard one for Southstars.

Andrew Dix scored for Jamestown off assists by Luke DePonceau and Jacob Gerace.

Butler Valley Dawgs-Kline defeated the Butler Valley Dawgs-Garbutt, 6-0, with six different people scoring goals.

Ryan Iversen, Brendan Kline, Andrew Coholich, Ryan Koprivnikar, David Hanna and Ryan Norris had goals.

Assists went to Koprivnikar and Kyle Errera with two, and Ryan Norris, Jacob Golab, Benjamin Cutuli and Jonathan Ventura with one apiece.

Southstars Stars and BV-Garbut tied at 8-8.

Mike Moeller scored three times, and Connor Luczak, Brennan Eynon, Ben Ingalls and Adam Keller and Morgan Zaccarine added goals for the Stars.

Drawing assists for the Stars were Matt Reinard with four, Ethan Biggs, Luczak and Morgan Zaccarine two each, and Brendon Wenger, Ben Ingalls, and John Zarlock with one for the Stars.


John Haettich scored twice and Johnny DeMarco once as Bud Bakewell topped BV-Hulbert, 3-1.

Michael Ranieri, Roman Jewula and Austin Spatorico had assists for Bakewell.

Alex Rihn had the lone BV-Hulbert goal with that being unassisted.

Niagara County and BV-McKee battled to 1-1 deadlock.

Jacob Sillett scored for NC from Noah Kinesia and Troy Gilland tallied unassisted for BV-McKee.

Luke Henne responded with two goals, and Nathan Waters-Virgin and Kyle Grumsky with one as North Pittsburgh nipped Youngstown, 4-3.

Assists went to Nick Kairys, Cal McCaffrey and Waters-Virgin for North Pittsburgh.

Danny Beistel, Justin Long and Joey D’Apolito scored for Youngstown with assists by Justin Lewis, Joey D’Apolito and Long.


Canandaigua nipped BV-Giannamore, 3-2, with Joe Post scoring twice and Alex Hernandez once.

Jack Millspaugh, Justin Griffin, Alex Burley, Spencer Taft, Hernandez and Post had an assist for Canandaigua.

Justin Yuiska had both unassisted goals in the setback.


Rochester was all over North Pittsburgh Wildcats, 9-1, led by Matt Taylor with two goals.

Other goals went to Bradley Caryl, Tyler Knicley, Jacob Dillon, Matthew Wiza, Adam Drexel and Matther Wright.

The assists went to Wiza with four, Jacob Dillon, Drexel, Sean Erne and Tyler Knicley with two apiece and Ryan Austin with one.

Nicholas Hall scored an unassisted goal for North Pittsburgh.

Adam Smith scored the hat trick, and Justin Kocher and Jimmy Martin added two goals as Bud Bakewell drubbed Armstrong, 12-1.

Travis Porterfield, Cameron McMahon, James Bonn, Garrett Miller and Cameron Collignon recorded goals for the winners.

Handing out assists were Adam Crist, Martin and Erriono Giardina with two, and Porterfield, Kyle Bishop, Boon, Kocher, McMahon and Joshua Gordon.

Dylan Simmons scored for Armstrong.


Joey Gerace had two unassisted goals as the Jamestown Lakers fell to West Seneca Wings, 3-2.
