GIRLS BASKETBALL

WUEBBOLT SHINES

Rob Collver didn’t mince words.

”She killed us,” is exactly how the Panama coach described the performance of Emily Wuebbolt of Southwestern.

Wuebbolt scored 25 points, including 17 in the second half, as the Lady Trojans rallied for a 57-50 win over Panama.

When Wuebbolt wasn’t scoring she controlled the backboards with 14 rebounds.

Panama took a 31-27 lead into halftime, but fell apart in the third period.

”We were flat,”said Collver, who saw the Lady Trojans, led by Wuebbolt’s 12 points, take the lead for good with a 20-5 run.

Alex Sullivan, who had 24 points in the previous meeting won by Southwestern, 54-39, supported Wuebbolt with 16 points and Jenna Yuchnitz added 11.

Foul shooting was also a key with the winners making 15-of-25 with Wuebbolt sinking 9-of-10 compared to the Panthers sinking only 6-of-16.

Bethany Lenart and Brianna Marsh divided 28 points for the Lady Panthers (6-6, 7-11). Meghan Conway had 10 rebounds and Lenart seven to go with three steals.
