Treasure Hunt Medallion Found

The 2013 Winter Festival Treasure Hunt Medallion has been found. Congratulations go out to the winner of the event, who found the medallion at the Russell E. Diethrick Jr. Park in Jamestown in an urn. The prizes, $100 cash plus a weekend stay at The Maple Inn, Chautauqua Institution, will be announced at the festival this weekend. Taylor Lehman of Jamestown, a student at SUNY Fredonia and employed at Northwest Savings Bank in Mayville, and her grandmother, Janet Henderson of Busti wrote the treasure hunt clues this year.

Outdoor Club

To Hike Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ski or hike the trails at Brush Hollow Cross-Country Ski/Hiking Area off Route 948, 10 miles north of Ridgway, Pa. Busti Auxiliary

To Meet Tuesday

The Busti Fire Department Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the fire hall. Discussion will be on assisting the firemen with their Daytona 500 party, the annual banquet in March and ideas for future fundraising. All members are encouraged to attend this meeting. New members are welcome.

Historical Society To Meet Monday

FREWSBURG – The Carroll Historical Society will hold its first meeting of the year on Monday at 7 p.m. Jay Glarner of Frewsburg, who has offered to make a video of the history of Frewsburg and Carroll, will be the guest. The society is also presenting recent renovations to meeting rooms and discussing plans for an open house in May honoring Robert H. Jackson. The public is invited to attend the meeting at 5 Main St., Frewsburg, in the building behind the Carroll Town Hall.

Donations Now Being Accepted

The First Lutheran Church Community Outreach Center, corner of Chandler and Center streets, is currently accepting donations of small household items and clothing, in good condition. Items should be dropped off during regular center hours, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Railroaders

To Meet Friday

Independent Railroaders will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in the First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St., Jamestown. A presentation and booksigning by Chuck Spinner, author of ”The Tragedy at the Lomis Street Crossing,” will be at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Dave Shaw at 763-6211.

Thule Lodge To Meet Saturday

BEMUS POINT – The Thule Lodge, located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road, will meet Saturday at 2 p.m. for the monthly meeting and refreshments. All members are encouraged to attend. Thule Lodge, now into its 106th year, serves to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. New members are always welcome.
