YWCA Jamestown Holds Annual Meeting

On Jan. 28, YWCA Jamestown held its 124th annual meeting. Members, staff, board of directors and YWCA friends enjoyed a night of wine, food and fun. The night included presentations from each YWCA program, as well as the induction and introduction of incoming 2013 board members.

The following were elected for three-year terms:

Jane Winter has a master’s degree in reading education. She retired after 33 years of teaching in the Jamestown Public School system. Her community involvement includes: High School Bowl, moderator; Young Reader’s Radio Quiz, consultant; Delta Kappa Gamma, past president; Marvin House, board of directors; Jamestown Interclub Council, president; PEO; Chautauqua County Humane Society; 2011 Woman of the Year. Jane is also a 25-year breast cancer survivor.

Georgiann Sutherin spent 30-plus years in the field of computer science, working 10 years with Ethan Allen as a computer programmer, as well as 5-plus years in the antiquing industry. Georgiann is an active member of the Lakewood Women’s Club, Yacht Club and Garden Club. Originally from Ohio, Georgiann currently resides in Lakewood with her husband and enjoys spending time with her daughter and two grandchildren in Ohio.

Leanna Luka-Conley is currently the director of social services at The Resource Center, overseeing programs of service coordination, central intake, care coordination, guardianship and other community-based programs. Before accepting a position with The Resource Center, she was employed as an assistant director of Workforce Development/Bridge College to Work Program at Jamestown Community College for 10 years. She continues to work as an adjunct instructor at Jamestown Community College and works occasionally as a counselor on the behavioral health inpatient units at WCA Hospital. She is a licensed master social worker and has experience working with diverse populations in various community settings. Luka-Conley served on the Jamestown Boys and Girls Club for several years and continues to volunteer when needed. She currently lives in Lakewood with her husband, John, and three children: Ashley, Lyla and John-John.

Nicole Pitts earned a master’s degree in social work from the University at Buffalo, and a bachelor’s degree in social work from SUNY Fredonia. She is a licensed clinical social worker with “R” privileges in New York. Pitts is employed by the Resource Center Counseling and Psychiatric Services since 2006, and prior to that she worked for WCA Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Programs.

Elected for a one-year term was:

Janet Chew is employed by WCA Hospital as the EAP coordinator and psychiatric social worker. She holds a master’s degree in social work from UB. Currently she sits on the WCA Hospital board, and has had past board experience with Jamestown Audubon and Zonta Club of Jamestown. She resides in Jamestown with her husband, Andrew Dickson.
