Have A Heart Dinner Planned For Sunday
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s 4-H Program will host its second annual Have a Heart for 4-H Dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Gerry Rodeo Grounds and Conference Center.
Dinner tickets will be available at the door for $20 a meal with children 5 and under admitted free. Pre-sale tickets are on sale for $15 each at the Frank W. Bratt Ag Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown; or by calling 664-9502, ext. 214. Robert Cross of 3 C’s Catering, a 4-H volunteer and alumnus, has donated his expertise again for the dinner, which will include fresh carved pork, meat balls, corn, salad, potatoes and homemade desserts.
Those who do not want to eat are still welcome to participate in one of several auctions during the event. In 2012, 4-H gave away more than $250 worth of items in a basket auction. Tickets will be $5 and include five chances at winning items of one’s choice. Winners do not need to be present to win. They must leave their name and phone number on each ticket deposited into a selected items bag. If a winning ticket is drawn, the winner will receive a phone call and be responsible for picking up the item on Sunday evening or Monday at the Gerry Rodeo Grounds.
The silent auction has more than 20 large items available, including two tickets to Darien Lake, a Kindle Fire HD; a new John Deere snowblower and leaf blower; an Adirondack chair; a Fancher Chair Company chair; a bowling package including a ball bag, dinner and bowling supplies; two round trip Southwest Airline tickets worth up to $400; an emergency response scanner; a one-year auto maintenance certificate; a flowering cherry tree; a registered Morgan horse; Buffalo Sabres tickets; a tool set with more than 50 pieces; $500 off a new vehicle and a free hotel stay.
In addition to the auction items, the first 500 children in attendance will receive a voucher for a free kids meal at Bob Evans.
Dan Warren will provide musical entertainment.
The Chautauqua County 4-H is still collecting for monetary and auction donations. To contribute, call the 4-H Office at Cornell Cooperative Extension at 664-9502, ext. 214
