Ash Wednesday Service At Noon

The First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown will hold an Ash Wednesday service with the imposition of ashes and open communion at noon on Wednesday in the Bellinger Chapel. The Rev. Donald Ray will preach. Lunch will be offered following the service. Services will held at noon the next five Wednesdays during Lent. The series title is “Pilgrimage: Past, Present, Onward!” Five members will speak on past spiritual leaders and how they can guide us in the present and into the future.

Auxiliary To Host Holiday Brunch

The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726 will host a Valentine’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday in the ILS Veterans Club, Fluvanna Avenue. The menu includes breakfast casseroles, fruit and homemade breads, or a choice of pancakes with sausage. The cost is $7 for adults; $4 for ages 4 through 12; children under age 4, free. Proceeds will benefit auxiliary programs for veterans and the community.

Frewsburg Board To Meet Thursday

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the middle/high school library. The public is welcome to attend.

Sinclairville Seniors To Meet Today

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Senior Citizens will meet today at the Sinclairville Firehall dining room for their monthly luncheon and program. The luncheon begins at noon, and those attending are asked to bring a dish of food to pass and their own table service. The program will be a musical program by Susan Castor, who will entertain the group with a sing along. She is a lifetime vocalist, who is active in Music Ministries. New members are always welcome.

Free Workshop Set For Saturday

The Master Gardener Program of Chautauqua County will hold a free horticultural workshop, “Building Your Pruning Skills,” from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. The workshop will include an indoor presentation covering the basics of pruning tools, timing and techniques for ornamental trees and shrubs. The workshop will be taught by certified arborist Andy Post who specializes in preservation and maintenance practices. The location of the workshop will be the Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown. Space is limited. Registration is required by calling Betsy Burgeson at 664-9502, ext. 204, or emailing emh92@cornell.edu. The mission of the Master Gardener Program is to educate and serve the community, utilizing university and research-based horticultural information. This program is administered through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County.
