Rev. Norman C. McLean

The Rev. Norman C. McLean, 86, formerly of Chautauqua, N.Y., and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since October 2010, died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Greenville, Pa., on Dec. 20, 1926, the son of Ralph and Mam-ie Winters McLean. He married Anne Bowersox on June 9, 1950, and she pre-ceded him in death on July 21, 2012.

He was a 1944 graduate of Penn High School, a 1948 graduate of Thiel College and in 1950 he received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree, and then in 1951 a masters degree in sacred theology from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, N.J.

His first appointment was at Bemus Point (N.Y.) United Methodist Church, he then served Brockway (Pa.) United Methodist Church and later at various United Methodist churches in Niagara Falls, Chautauqua, Lockport, Buffalo, and Westfield, before retiring in 1989. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing in the Chautauqua area and in Cooper City, Fla. He was an avid sports fan, who was normally tuned to ESPN.

He is survived by a nephew, G. Edward Bower-sox III of Somerset, Pa.; two nieces: Marilyn Faris of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Marjorie Fiebinger of Vienna, Austria; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Bowersox of Somerset, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Barco Chapel of Wes-bury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, pas-tor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
