Author To Host Local Book Signing Today
Wendy Corsi Staub will be returning to The Book Nook today at 5 p.m. for a book signing celebrating the release of “Shadowkiller,” the final book in her latest trilogy.
Staub has made a name for herself in the writing world. Her books have made the bestseller lists in USA Today and The New York Times on numerous occasions. Her second book in the riveting trilogy, “Sleepwalker,” is a finalist for the prestigious Mary Higgins Clark Award by the Mystery Writers of America.
Staub was born and raised in Dunkirk. She attended Dunkirk Public Schools and SUNY Fredonia, graduating in 1986. She is also a Book Nook alumna, having worked at the store throughout her college years.
Her previous books in this newest trilogy, entitled “Nightwatcher,” released in late August, and “Sleepwalker,” released in late September, are the first two parts of a thriller that wraps up with the newly released “Shadowkiller.”
This trilogy began with “Nightwatcher,” which was set against the backdrop of 9/11 and captured the shock, paranoia and tension of New York City on that fateful day.
Set 10 years later, its follow up, “Sleepwalker,” took readers into the leafy suburbs of Westchester, where terror lurked behind the idyllic facades of its lovely homes. Now, in “Shadowkiller,” things are finally getting back to normal for Allison Taylor MacKenna and her husband, Mac, but little do they know something terrible is about to happen.
Unbeknownst to them, a madwoman from their past is seeking revenge. Her plan involves murder, identify theft and kidnapping, and it won’t stop until Allison pays the full price. But Allison has no idea that danger lurks behind her beautiful suburban home, for her stalker is literally staying at the house next door, watching the MacKenna family’s every move, even tapping into their wireless network … and following them on a vacation that is supposed to be a relaxing retreat, but that turns into a fight for their very lives.
All three in the trilogy, “Nightwatcher,” “Sleepwalker” and “Shadowkiller” are in stock and available at The Book Nook now, along with all of Staub’s backlist titles.
Staub is currently writing a new trio of suspense novels, which will be released starting in October.
According to her website, the first title, “The Good Sister,” is a domestic psychological suspense plot that involves cyber bullying and features a creepy old house and all-girls Catholic school in Western New York.
Determined to make it as a writer, Staub moved to New York City at 21. She worked as an editor for a publishing firm and soon broke onto the writing scene, publishing her first novel, “Summer Lightning.” Early in her career she coauthored a mystery series with former New York City mayor Ed Koch.
Staub has published nearly 80 books, selling more than three million copies worldwide and translated into more than a dozen languages. She, however, is not only known for her gripping psychological thrillers. Published under the pseudonym “Wendy Markham,” she has authored many other books that have made multiple bestseller lists. She has written books for adults and teenagers alike. Her Lily Dale books are an absorbing series for teens and adults that take place in the world’s foremost spiritual community, just a few miles from where she grew up.
Her local tour features a question and answer session at the beginning of the book-signing, where readers will be able to ask questions and get responses directly from Staub. After that, attendees will be able to have their books signed by the author. Staub is known for her casual and relaxed interactions with her readers at book signings, and she looks forward to answering questions her readers have for her.
