Alan F. Alaimo

Alan F. Alaimo, 64, passed away in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, after moving there in 2010 from Framingham, Mass., where he lived for more than 30 years.

Alan, the son of the late Frederick Alaimo and Alberta Hall Alaimo Shute, was born in Jamestown, N.Y., in 1948. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966 and from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1971.

He married Kindra Brown in 1970 and thereafter moved to Massachusetts, where Al worked as an electrical engineer for Teledyne Crystalonics. Later he became self-employed in the computer industry, buying, fixing and selling computers and all related items.

Alan enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, playing poker and coin collecting. Al was very close with his father’s side of the family and attended a weeklong family reunion every two years from 1958 to 2012.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kindra Brown Alaimo.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Montgomery Alaimo, Las Vegas, Nev.; his son, John Metress (Teresa) and grandson John Metress II of Wantagh, N.Y.; sister, Marie (Lanny) Sheffield of Henderson, Nev.; brother, David (Maureen) of Perris, Calif.; sister, Tina (Michael) Trusso, of Falconer, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

If ever a man loved his family, it was Al. He loved to tell stories of his aunts, uncles and cousins, and stories of the previous family reunions. His passing leaves an emptyness in all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services will be held at a future date to be arranged by the family.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Kidney Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
