Alan Christie was the hero as Arby’s nipped Rock Hill Engineering, 5-4, Thursday night in Chautauqua County House Hockey action at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena.

Christie broke the 4-4 tie with just 21 seconds left to give Arby’s the win.

Hunter Thorpe scored twice and Don Dean once for the winners. Dean also added an assist and Blade Ellis contributed a goal off a rebound

Jon Syper and Alex Kolstee had assists in the win for goalie Kaleb Bender.

Jordan Rose tallied the hat trick and Rock Hill teammate Colin Melquist added a goal and an assist. Corey Rose and Garrett Darts collected assists for goalie Andrew MacCallum in the loss.


The Southern Tier Storm had a 1-1 record in the 19th annual Sarah Backstrom’s Tournament in Erie.

After qualifying rounds of the nine-team format, Southern Tier advanced with a 4-1 win over the Webster Cyclones to reach the semifinals.

Rebecca Rothleder, Lauren Madden, Corrie Proctor and Jade Walsh scored the goals for Southern Tier against Webster.

Rothleder added two assists and Swick one for Southern Tier.

Then they lost to Buffalo Stars, 4-0, in the semifinals.
