Portville Edges Silver Creek In Low-Scoring Contest

PORTVILLE – Gia George scored the go-ahead points and the insurance points for Portville (3-9, 6-11) in Division 2 basketball Friday night.

George connected on a pair of free throws with 1:30 left to make it 29-27 and then hit a jumper with 35 seconds remaining for the insurance in Portville’s 31-27 victory over Silver Creek.

Albanie Stives led Portville with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals while teammate Emma Doty grabbed seven rebounds for the Lady Panthers, who avenged an earlier 12-point defeat.

Marissa Donovan sank 10 points and Jordan Brooks produced 12 rebounds for SC. Brooks had 25 points and 27 rebounds in the first outing against Portville.
