Defense Leads Clymer Over Ellicottville

CLYMER – Defense was the name of the game for Clymer in Division 4 boys basketball Friday night.

”We played very good zone defense and allowed just three offensive rebounds,” said Clymer coach Dan White after his Pirates won easily, 47-15, over Ellicottville.

Rebounding went Clymer by a 36-23 edge with Mitch Einink grabbing 13 rebounds and Dan Lictus 11 rebounds.

Jake Wiggers, Lictus and Einink each scored eight points in the first half when Clymer jumped to a comfortable 27-8 margin.

Einink and Lictus finished with 15 points and Wiggers added 10 for Clymer. Wiggers had five steals, Einink and Lictus four each and Lictus also had four assists.

Clymer had good performance at the foul line by making 14-of-22 with Lictus 7-for-9 and Einink 4-of-6.

WEST VALLEY -Dan Ferguson led the way with 20 points and Jordan Patterson added 15 points as Brocton moved to 14-1, cruising to a 56-23 victory over West Valley (3-14) in Division 4 boys basketball.

Ferguson also had nine rebounds and Patterson added seven assist in the win.

For West Valley, Colton Myers had nine points and six rebounds.
