A-L Girls Top Lady Golden Falcons

FALCONER – Shannon Gunnell had a double-double in a losing cause for Falconer in Division 1 girls basketball on Monday.

Gunnell scored 16 points and brought down 15 rebounds as the Lady Golden Falcons (0-9, 0-14) fell to Allegany-Limestone (5-4, 8-9), 33-27.

The Lady Golden Falcons and Allegany-Limestone were tied at 26-26 entering the final period.

Julie Barton made a couple of baskets for the visitors during a 7-1 run and Falconer could only manage a Alyssa Brooks’ free throw.

”We played great, but we ran out of steam,” said Falconer coach Emily Scholeno. ”We have to know how to play with the lead.”

Kaylee Keith of Falconer added eight points with the only two 3-pointers of the game.

Emma Steele had five rebounds, five assists and two steals while Brooks contributed five rebounds and two steals for Falconer.
